“The way the agreement was designed legally, it is difficult for us to see how it can be cancelled, and Swedavia plans to continue operations as per the agreement. The destinations on offer and the airport’s easy access are in great demand among travellers, businesses and airlines. Capacity is almost fully utilised, which reflects the great popularity of the airport.
“Stockholm-Bromma Airport and Stockholm-Arlanda Airport complement one another. The airports have different types of air traffic and attract different target groups. Stockholm-Arlanda’s strength is the breadth of its offering, 180 non-stop destinations in Sweden, Europe and the rest of the world. Stockholm-Bromma’s strength is speed to select destinations that tie businesses in Sweden together. Moving Stockholm-Bromma’s traffic to Stockholm-Arlanda reduces access to/from Stockholm and would create problems for Stockholm-Arlanda from a number of aspects.
“The airport has been designated by the Government as one of ten strategic airports in Sweden and is therefore to be included in the country’s national basic airport infrastructure,” Ms Chetkovich concludes.
